We train according to AKC standards and concentrate on turning that “backyard monster” in the “well behaved” family member. We have also titled dogs in the past and if you desire we can help you title your dog as well after you complete the basic obedience course.
Our basic obedience course is a mere 8 weeks long. The training is done at your home and is tailored to your specific needs and at a time that is convenient to you. This creates a one-on-one type atmosphere and with that time dedicated to you alone.
We go through all phases of basic obedience:
| I. | The positions a. Sit b. Down c. Stand |
| II. | Proper Heeling Simply put we teach your dog to respect you and walk beside you calmly. |
| III. | Stay/Recalls We teach your dog to stay in a “sit” or “down” while you leave it; then to wait for you to call your dog and after coming to you, to sit when it gets to you. |
| IV. | Stay/Returns Another stay exercise; only we teach your dog to wait until you have returned to your dog before it moves. |
| V. | Figure 8 Exercise Using cones which represent any foreign object you may encounter we teach your dog to walk around and or among them but not to “investigate them” |
| VI. | Meet and Greet We teach you and your dog the proper way to greet a person, stranger or friend, either with a dog or without. We also supply a neutral dog before the end of the course to complete this exercise |
In addition to these exercises we will also address some other common household nuisances such jumping, chewing on items not suitable, and unwanted barking, kennel training, potty training and mat-training.
Each new phase of training from beginning to end is done in a professional easy approach with patience and understanding.
Our course is a structured course with a session once per week giving you the rest of to week to practice once per day what you’ve learned. Each week we will either re-enforce what we’ve covered or introduce a new exercise depending on your personal progress.
We believe in “keeping it simple” and “keeping it fun”
To help keep your costs to a minimum, All Dogs Can supplies all training leads, treats and collars. The only things you will need to provide for your dog is a standard leash and collar or any balls, toys or chewies you may want. We also furnish, for your records, references from past clients, training tips, useful information regarding our program and provide for in writing anything we promise you.
